Global Opportunities
The typical procedure of any successful foreign study program is, in essence, to parachute students into an unfamiliar environment, assign them an otherwise familiar task, and engage them as they work hard to orient themselves, to decode strange contexts, to absorb the flood of impressions, and then start to synthesize all the disparate rushing input into a cohesive, considered response. We would assert that the importance of foreign study to architectural education is unassailable. The College’s desire is to make this essential experience central to each of our students’ education.
Architecture students may participate in the College’s one-semester Paris Program (fall or spring), participate in an advanced studio situated in an international city, or enroll in another university’s study abroad program. Each global opportunity combines studio-based design work with travel, site visits, and collaborative design with local architects and students.
